Season 3 Rankings - Roamer
Season 3 Rankings - Roamer
Roamers in div 3 are a confusing thing. Occasionally, it can be even less enjoyable than playing medic; especially with the high quality of the scouts this season. It was quite challenging to rank the final three roamers. Here's my list:
5. GreenShaDow - Light Green like Novice
I couldn't decide on a fifth place. It had to be a Thai ahhahahaha XDDDD. Anyways, Thailand is to the Asian scene what Russia is to the European scene. Both have the same stereotype. Silent, mechanically gifted, and not very good at speaking English. GreenShaDow fits directly into this stereotype. As roamer for Ravens Clutch, GreenShaDow would make amazing plays and hit amazing shots. Despite this, the same curse that befell the pocket soldiers befell Mr. Noodle Language himself.
GreenShaDow didn't communicate with his team very well. He always had a lot of potential with his great mechanical skill, but he always seemed out of sync with his team. Sometimes his medic would not buff him before he went in for a sac. Sometimes he'd jump in and his team wasn't there to help him follow up. Ultimately, its hard to know how much fault is on the language barrier between noodle language and English, but it would seem like a waste to see GreenShaDow go for amazing plays or set himself up for them but not have his team be able to help him with it or follow up on them.
4. Hellstarry - Dax 2.0
I am convinced that Hellstarry and Dax are the same person. Just like Dax, Hellstarry spends an obscene amount of time on Tempus servers. Just like Dax, Hellstarry enjoys vulgarly yelling at puggers. But unlike Dax, Hellstarry can speak English (kind of). Hellstarry, as his name suggests, is one hell of a star. He's a star at feeding. I was convinced that in the playoffs match of RSL vs Krankenwagen, that Dax and Hellstarry had together solved world hunger by feeding so fucking hard.
Jokes aside, Hellstarry is probably one of the most improved players in Open. Though a bit of a late bloomer, as his growth spurt into a big boy roamer only hit after week one of playoffs, Hellstarry has developed into who I would consider to be the best soldier out of the triple rotation that Krankenwagen ran. In the Lower Bracket Finals as well as the Grand Finals, Hellstarry really played extremely well, taking so much space for his team and making valuable plays. This was especially apparent on Clearcut, where his jumps shined through, sometimes even above and beyond the players below him on this list. To conclude, Hellstarry has bloomed into a great roamer and it only looks to be on the rise for him now.
3. Vice - Best Jumper in Asia
When Tempus jumpers hear the name Vice, they think of a god. Vice is ranked higher on Tempus than other legendary jumper-main players like Starkie, Kaptain and Yewl by thousands of points, so...what's this guy doing in novice? Turns out, Vice really is novice. NO-VICE means NO VICE, you might be saying. But, going from witnessing Vice's dogshit gameplay in Novice around May and April, I was really surprised to see such a huge improvement once Season 3 rolled around.
Vice is the best jumper in Asia right now. Just like Dax, his bombs are super fast and super high. However, unlike Dax his bombs are predictable, being pretty easy to surf as a Medic and Demoman. Despite this, its nothing Vice can't fix within a few hours of practice. Overall, I think Vice improved a lot over this season. He truly transformed from a Novice player with god tier jumps to a player who can truly utilize his amazing movement to its full potential, going for many smart plays and bombs.

2. Varien - The Muslim Terror
Mohamad "Varien" Roslan Gaming. A.K.A. the "Muslim Terror." When I heard that Varien was a sub on Abusement Park, I was confused. Questions of why fucking Vice and Fany (dogshit players at the time) were on the team over the Division Two roamer Varien ran through my mind. Anyways, upon joining RSL and being able to play on a main roster, it is clear that Varien was one of the scariest roamers in Open. Not because he's Muslim (though Muslims are very good at sacrifice bombs), but because of his smart and decisive plays. Much like the legendary roamers of Blaze, Seagull or Drackk, Varien's intelligent and selfless playstyle led to many forces or plays that created so many openings for his team.
Varien is kind of like an amalgamation of the other players on this list. He has the DM and mechanical skill of GreenShaDow, the jumps and speed of Vice, but he has one last thing that solidifies his position as the Muslim Terror - his ability to read the situation around him and know exactly what to do. However, there is one player that stands in the way of Muslim roaming domination of Division 3 - Moonchild.
