Season 3 Rankings - Demo
Season 3 Rankings - Demo
The demos in this season were all very close in skill, and it was very hard to rank these players. Here is my ranking for the the top 5 demos for Pure Season 3 Open Divison.
5. Errol - Rich and Edgy
Agh! I cut myself. We're talking about Errol so get your band-aids ready, you will probably need to patch up some of the cuts you will get from the raw edge of this man. Errol, the demo for Yang Ciao, was a weird choice for me. The decision to move Acesty from demo to soldier was a weird one, as Acesty was one of the top Novice Demos at the time. However, I didn't question it, as Acesty is still a decent soldier and Errol was one of the top Asian pubbers with a massive amount of respect from pubbers (Highlander players) and Novice puggers alike.
In late regular season, Errol shined through on Clearcut and Villa with his traps, taking so much space for his team and letting his scouts and soldiers roam free. Despite this, his tendency to W+M1 like his true pubber-self ultimately brought his team down and they were not able to make playoffs.
4. Saint - Highlander Main
Saint - the most consistent player on RSL. Coming into this season, I knew virtually nothing about Saint. Even now, I don't know why his name is Saint. What holy things has he done? Only thing I've ever seen him do is bait Carnival. One could even say, he is a master-baiter. Masturbation is a sin. Fuck this guy, he's not a Saint. This guy should change his name to SINNER. But I digress. Saint, throughout this season, was one of the most consistent players on the top 4 teams. An absolute MGE lord, his pipes almost seemed magnetic. Playing against Saint was like playing hot potato with a stick of dynamite.
Towards the playoffs stage, Saint started working with his team like a priest works with God. His dynamic with Carnival greatly improved from a toxic one, to a less toxic one. Overall, with his consistent damage and amazing pipes, he was the foundation for his team and RSL could not have gotten as far as they did without him..
3. Khronus - The People's Vote
Khronus - the demo (and carry) of Abusement Park. Khronus never really seemed like a good fit for div 3. He always seemed to be too good, getting 400DPM almost every scrim. Despite this, he never really seemed like a good fit for div 2 either. Seeing him go into this season, I hoped for him to finally find his place by either winning div 3 and moving on to newer heights, or by solidifying his position as final boss of high div 3. And in the regular season, it really seemed like things were going his way. Abusement Park was one of the teams to beat going into playoffs, but it seems like Khronus' DM just wasn't enough to bring his team past the towering giants of Der Krankenwagen and ABNA Black.
However, I look forward to seeing Khronus in the future. With his amazing DM, he would be an amazing pickup on anyone's team and hopefully with this season, Khronus has found his place as either a King of Div 3 or moving forward into the new lands of Division 2.

2. Deceptive - The Toxic Prodigy
Deceptive. Wherever you go in the world, people will have heard of the player. The man, the myth, the legend; Deceptive. Whether it be stories of his flawless Tier 6 Demo jump runs, his 400DPM in scrims, or his rampant toxicity. Deceptive will always be a player of extreme notoriety, being so good, but always unable to get any form of placement badge. Like the other jumper mains (comby, overdose, vice, cander, moonchild) Deceptive has been known for his great DM, but not so great comms. Despite this, Deceptive carried TerraTakers so hard that I wouldn't be surprised if his back is broken. Deceptive with TerraTakers is like Atlas with the weight of the sky, but this time with the weight of Jason32. Deceptive's gameplay on every class is so good, but his gameplay on Demo was definitely the best. The amount of damage Deceptive does on this class is just so high; it negates the complete lack of impact his soldiers had on the game.
Even with all these things going for him, Deceptive suffered from a lack of teamwork and the toxicity his teammates faced from him on a daily basis definitely did something to the psyche and morale of his team. A team with Deceptive is one with 50x more DM, but one with 50x less morale. When all is said and done, Deceptive needs to work better with his team, but with the amount of raw mechanical skill and game sense Deceptive has, the future is looking bright for the jumper prodigy.
1. Alpy - b4nny's son with down syndrome
In all MGE servers, typing !top5 in chat will always yield Alpy's name. With over 2000 ELO on every MGE server in South East Asia, this man is an unstoppable beast. However, he's also an unstoppable drooling retard. All DM with a brain the works half the time is the best way to describe Alpy. However, when his heart decides to pump some oxygen to the noggin; Alpy transcends his caricature as a DM lord and can make some amazing plays.
As a previous Division Two placement winner, Alpy was initially brought into Krankenwagen on the Demoman role after Bloodfeud left for the green and pleasant pastures of England. With this new roster, the future was looking grim for Krankenwagen. While Alpy is no slouch in the Demoman department (and certainly a better one than Bloodfeud), Bloodfeud was the maincaller and brain of the Krankenwagen juggernaut. Alpy is literally a mute cunt. Without a maincaller for the team, it looked like Krankenwagen might as well have jumped off a cliff. In spite of this, the amount of damage and the insane, raw, concentrated DM that Alpy showed negated the need for any form of strategy or brainthat DK might have needed in fights. With his scouts playing extremely well, Alpy just completely destroyed everything that was set in front of his soulless, pipe-everything-I-see eyes.
Whenever Krankenwagen needed a save, Alpy was always there. Just like Saint was the foundation for his team, and Deceptive and Khronus were the playmakers for their team, Alpy was both for DK. Providing a consistent amount of damage as well as pulling it out of the bag whenever his team needed it, it is a given fact that Alpy is the best demo of open.
